Karate Instructor Pleads No Contest to Sex Charges

April 23, 2008 – Bradley Knight, 38, the karate instructor convicted of having sex with one of his young students pleaded no contest to similar charges Monday in cases involving four other victims, the State Attorney’s Office said. Knight was arrested in 2006 after the parents of a teen girl told investigators the instructor had sex with their daughter. As Osceola County detectives investigated Knight, who owned and operated Tiger’s Den Karate-Do Academy on East Carroll Street, more victims came forward. Knight was also accused of possessing child pornography. The children were 9 to 16 years old at the time they had sexual activity with Knight. In February, an Osceola County jury found Knight guilty of sexual activity with a minor, lewd or lascivious battery, and lewd or lascivious molestation in one of the cases. Circuit Judge Jon Morgan sentenced Knight on March 27 to 40 years in prison. He also will be designated as a sex offender.

Knight was scheduled for another trial on Monday but entered pleas in four of the cases. Each case involved one victim. As part of the agreement, the state dropped its charges involving the child pornography possession, Morgan said. The plea called for Knight to be sentenced to 40 years in prison, which will be concurrent to the sentence he received last month, followed by a lifetime of sex-offender probation.
